unwrapping UVW's in 3DS MAX is needed to add to completed models and give them finishing touches.
This is first done by opening the modifier tab and selecting UVW unwrap. Then by selecting the different faces one part of the UVW map can be created, not all of the model can be done at once, each part much be done seperately so that each portion of the texturing can be done accuately.

once this is done it can then be edited in photoshop by opening the same image made in 3DS max. This way a texture map can be created accuately. By creating the next layer as diffuse we can see the lines where we will place the textures in.

after chosing the correct textures they can be placed over the lines and where they are suppoed to be according to the UVW map. After saving it as a .JPG it can then be applied as a texture to the model.

By opening the Material editing and selecting the diffuse option and then bitmap the texture image can be applied to the model to see the effects.
